In early October 2025, Georgina Ponce de Leon joined the team as our new Membership Manager. Highly experienced in membership, events and account management, we asked Georgina 5 questions to find out a little more about her.
Who are you?
Originally from Mexico City, I have been based in Melbourne for the last 15 years. My educational background is in finance and project management, and since moving to Australia, I have worked in different membership associations.
When I’m not working, you can find me gardening, visiting art galleries, painting or cooking.
What do you do?
I am the Membership and Event Manager for ArchiTeam.
What has been the scariest/courageous thing you’ve ever done?
Moving to Australia with Adrian, my partner, and starting from zero. Adrian was transferred to a new job, and although we had a lot of support from his company, we left everything we had in Mexico – our family, friends, our house, and our dog. I had to pause my career for a while while we settled in, but I have no regrets. We’ve been blessed to find amazing people whom we now consider family, and that has made us feel at home.
Who do you admire and why?
Lee Tregloan, who was a former boss and sadly passed away a few years ago. She was a trailblazer in the third sector and had a remarkable talent for inspiring and understanding people and organisations. In the first weeks of working with her, I remember her saying, " Never cry over spilled milk. It was her way of expressing that we all make mistakes; it's not about how we make them but how we fix them—one of my favourite mottos to live by.
Lee and I also shared our love for gardening, birding, food, and the arts. She was an inspiration, and I was truly fortunate to have worked with her for a few years.
What is it about ArchiTeam that made you want to get involved?
I've been involved with membership organisations over the last 14 years. Although I never considered a career in the third sector, I have found it to be gratifying and challenging. Joining ArchiTeam is an excellent opportunity to work on something I am passionate about, surrounded by people doing great work and challenging me to do the same.
