Who are you?
What do you do?
I am the Director of a small architecture practice based in North Melbourne, a mother of two teenagers and I am currently completing a Ph.D. at Monash University. I also practice Pilates on a regular basis to stay healthy and sane!
What has been the scariest/courageous thing you’ve ever done?
Moving to Los Angeles USA, when I was 23 years old to study for 12 months. It was initially both terrifying and exhilarating. When I arrived in LA, I bought a packet of Lucky Strike cigarettes and smoked one on Venice beach, I am not a smoker, but it seemed an appropriate thing to do at the time to mark the beginning of an exciting new adventure. I finally returned to Australia after 3 years, having lived in both Los Angeles and Berlin. It was a wonderful, memorable time.
Who do you admire and why?
I have the greatest admiration for my mother. As a single working mum, she put herself through a Master’s degree while raising and financially supporting three kids. She has been a significant role model for me, teaching me to embrace new opportunities when they arise and take on new challenges.
What is it about ArchiTeam that made you want to get involved?
I love being a part of a cooperative that represents Nationally, a large community of small and diverse architecture practices. I think collectively ArchiTeam members have the capacity to enable positive change in our built environment. I am interested in exploring that potential…..from little things big things grow….!
