PAUL ORLANDINI Chairman

Travelling as an Architect over the past 30 plus years amongst diverse Community, Institutional, Health and Residential projects has certainly provided a backdrop of intense analytical experience. The physical journey of nurturing these projects from wishful concepts or crossing swords with bureaucratic third parties has always provided for an emotional and sometimes exhausting journey.

What evolved are skill sets that can make discerning surgical analysis of own work as well as that of others. Professional etiquette some might call it. This aspect was further expanded in the many Pre Purchase Inspections, Building Dispute appraisals and spontaneous concept designs that have rounded my professional investigative persona.

Architeam has provided an interesting period having to deal with the other Directors and their own professional and personal journey. This obviously includes members and our staff who have been varied in their own roles within the forever developing Co Operative.

Paul has been a member of the Co Operative for almost 6 years and on the Board for 4 years with varied portfolios. It has always been interesting and somewhat lively operating your own practice while trying to invest even more energy in the ‘Team’ practice.

PETER FINN Secretary

Peter specialises in institutional, educational and community projects in particular the up front part of the project to identify the myriad of stakeholders, gather all the relevant and complex information and prepare the way forward at the beginning of the project, including funding applications. His role in negotiating with the increasing plethora of authorities and consultants involved in getting the project up and running can be a massive undertaking, he has developed the skill set to manage these both up front and behind the scenes elements.

Peter has over 30 years experience in designing and delivering projects which he still enjoys doing, he has run his own practice in Shepparton for over 20 years and maintains links to Melbourne practices for joint projects.

Peter has been an Architeam member for 5 years and was Chairman of Architeam 2009-11, Peter is currently a director with the position of Secretary.

JOHN HENRY Treasurer

John is an experienced architect in all aspects of architectural practice.  He has fellowship diplomas in Architecture and Town Planning from RMIT and a Masters Degree in Project Management from RMIT.  John is Principal of John Henry Architects and specializes in the design and management of projects in health and aged care. His practice also undertakes commercial, institutional and residential projects. John is committed to high- quality design excellence and has won RAIA Awards for outstanding architecture.

John trained with leading architectural practices including Mockridge Stahle & Mitchell, Daryl Jackson and Graeme Gunn. John gained his experience in health care work with specialised firms Leighton Irwin and Co, Silver Thomas Hanley, Health Science Planning Consultants and Woodhead International.

John was in private practice for a number of years before he was invited to join Woodhead International. John worked recently with HLM Design International in London (a specialised practice in PPP/PFI project delivery), where he was the project manager and designer for the redevelopment of a major UK regional hospital. This experience enabled John to work closely with the National Health Service in the UK.

John has been a member of Architeam for 6 years, has served on the board for 4 years and is in his 3rd year as Treasurer.

PETER HOGG Member Services

Peter has long been interested in issues of social justice and environmental sustainability, maintaining a level of activism and political involvement.  He was a founding partner of AgitProp Design Collective in the 1990’s, which attempted to put into practice a collectivist / cooperative practice model.  After AgitProp he worked with a number of practices, including Peter Elliott, Graeme Gunn and Barrack Douglas. Peter also worked for Julien and Barbara Wigley, a small practice specializing in aboriginal housing and community planning and was very proud to have been involved in assisting Australia’s most marginalized people.

Peter established his own practice in January 2000 and the practice has largely concentrated on residential work and a number of institutional projects, including building conservation and heritage work, as well as several social housing projects.
