WHAT DO ARCHITECTS DO?
Architects are trained professionals who design our built environment. With a combination of creative and technical skills they conceive ideas that best suit the space, budget and orientation of a site, or consider the best way to enhance and use space within an existing building.

As each project includes a variety of roles and disciplines, architects may collaborate in groups to achieve the desired result. It is generally acknowledged that each project will include 5 distinct phases.
Client Consultation
The client and architect discuss the expectations, budget and desired outcome of the project.
Design Brief & Concepts
In response your client consultation the architect prepares a design brief and commences creating a concept design which meets the client requirements and is sympathetic to the site whilst adhering to any planning limitations or legislation. These concept designs are presented to the client to ensure that the project is in line with the client’s previously expressed expectations as outlined in the design brief.
Design development, documentation & building approvals
Once the concept drawings have been approved by the client, your architect designs a series of technical documents and drawings which can be submitted to the relevant local authorities for approval and prepares a set of drawings for the builder.
The Build
Your architect works with the builder to ensure your project is delivered according to the drawings and specifications provided.
Post Build
Your project is complete! The integrity of your project is protected by a period of warranty called the “defects liability period”. Your architect will follow up any issues or outstanding work with the builder or other contracted suppliers.

HOW MUCH DO ARCHITECTS CHARGE?
Each project is different in size, scope and finished product. We highly recommend you discuss a realistic budget with architect during the Client Consultation stage of your project. The overall cost of an architect is often associated with a percentage of the overall construction costs.
