Worth joining us for

The highlight of the ArchiTeam calendar, our Awards program recognises fresh and innovative contributions in the field of architecture by our members.  The inaugural ArchiTeam Awards were born in 2005 of the following manifesto.

GLOBALLY to:
  • Celebrate that our profession is multi-faceted
  • Contribute to the advancement of our profession
  • Create linkages between our profession and our community
LOCALLY to:
  • Synergise with Melbourne’s worldwide reputation as a design centre of excellence
  • Support diversity and co-operation
  • Symbolise the niche of ArchiTeam members
SPECIFICALLY to:
  • Exemplify the work of ArchiTeam members, e.g. the smaller, the unusual, the modest
  • Encourage small practice architects to prepare and experience exhibitions and presentations of a professional standard
RELATED
  • Intensify awareness of ArchiTeam
  • Increase active membership
Categories were created as BUILT: Small, Medium, Large and UNBUILT, with appropriate project size limits to be applied for ongoing programs.

Close to 200 people attended the inaugural 2005 Awards opening night, including industry, media, and members of the public.  The event and selected ArchiTeam member entries were profiled in architectural and design publications and were well covered by local print and radio media.

The ongoing exhibition promotes the accessibility of architecture to the public even for small and medium sized projects and entrants have secured project offers through Awards exhibition exposure.  The 2007 program will introduce the ArchiTeam Awards Roadshow, which will move the exhibition on around Melbourne following exposure at the initial venue.

Currently a biennial event, you may wish to submit your membership application in time to participate in the next Awards program.
